The Song featured on this page is
especially picked by Jianda for
Griot Soul Films Supporters to

an original song for the
soundtrack of our feature film,
She
Wasn't Last Night.

Bringing flavor from the soul of the
African diaspora and reminding
listeners of the vast diversity of
sound & song that exists within it,
Jianda is a breath of fresh air.
Her music, by virtue of its sweet mellow vibe, invites the listener to relax,
reflect, let go, and just be. While many of her selections bring us to the
brink of life's questions, others stir within us a complex intensity that
cries out vibrational challenges to old school perceptions and
projections.

Griot Soul Films was ecstatic to make a connection
with extraordinary hip hop artist Mystic. Many in the
GSF collective, including the Executive Director, have
been fans of the Oakland native for years. Her
connection with the heart of the community and
willingness to tell heartfelt stories that address the
complexity of issues faced within Black and
Black-connected communities in Oakland and beyond
makes her one of Griot Soul Films top picks for those
of you looking for some deep grooves to vibe with.
